Sunday, March 4 - Restart in Willow

Sunday, March 3, 2007 - The real Deal
Our good friend Paul arrived at the house early to help me and Jeannette load the truck and the dogs.

The weather couldn't have been any better. It was nice and cool and picture perfect blue sky.

double checking all the equipment

The sled was packed and all we could do was wait. Nervewrecking - let me tell you.
Then it was finally time to hook up the dogs and move the team to the start. The team was hot and ready to go - we had a hard time holding back the dogs.
Everything went so fast and before I knew it I was out on the trail.

It was awsome to run by the Deshka and the Fan club. Queen mother Sherry and her crew outdid themselves. Many mushers were impressed with the support I had and mentioned that to me during the race.

Restart in Willow

The first leg to Yetna and Skwentna was simple and straight forward - my dogs have done this stretch several times in training and in other races.
Although Skwentna is a very nice check point, I was happy to leave again after my 6 hour rest - it was just so croweded by all the dog teams.
Foraker - one of the 2-year-olds wasn't feeling right. I would have to watch him closely.
